The Joy of Adar

  • 1 min read

The month of Adar arrives with a unique invitation: to increase in joy. Connected to the story of Purim, Adar reminds us that transformation is often quiet, hidden, and deeply personal. Beneath the surface of everyday life, change is always possible.

Purim tells the story of a moment when fear turned into celebration through courage, faith, and resilience. That message continues to resonate today. Increasing joy during Adar doesn’t mean ignoring the challenges we face; it means choosing hope, connection, and the possibility of renewal even when the world feels uncertain.

Mikvah reflects these same themes of transition and renewal. Immersion offers a sacred pause — a moment to release what we carry and step forward with clarity and intention. In times of uncertainty, it becomes a quiet act of resilience and connection.

Our tradition teaches, מִשֶּׁנִּכְנַס אֲדָר מַרְבִּים בְּשִׂמְחָה — “When Adar enters, we increase in joy.” This is not a call to ignore reality, but an invitation to lean into hope, courage, and spiritual renewal. As Adar unfolds, may we open ourselves to transformation and the hidden miracles still at work in our lives.
