A sacred step in becoming Jewish.

MACoM offers a warm, private, and halachically grounded setting for the final ritual step of conversion.

A threshold moment

Enter the water.
Begin anew.

Immersion in a mikvah is traditionally the final ritual step in the conversion journey, a moment that marks both continuity and transformation.

At MACoM, every conversion immersion is held with dignity, care, and respect. MACoM provides a beautiful, accessible space, and the practical support you need on the day. Our guides help create a calm and welcoming environment while your sponsoring clergy will provide the religious guidance specific to your conversion.

  1. Coordinate

Your sponsoring clergy will work with MACoM to arrange the date, timing, witnesses, and ritual details for your immersion.

  2. Arrive & Prepare

A trained mikvah guide welcomes you, shows you the space, and gives you privacy and everything needed to complete your physical preparation.

  3. Immerse

You enter the warm living waters and immerse according to the guidance and traditions established with your clergy.

  4. Begin

You emerge from the water having completed a profound ritual transition and entered a new chapter of Jewish life.

Conversion requirements vary. Confirm witnesses, blessings, and ritual details with your sponsoring clergy before your appointment.

Common questions

What you may want to know.

Who arranges a conversion immersion?

Conversion immersions should be coordinated with your sponsoring rabbi or clergy, who will communicate the religious requirements and help arrange the appropriate witnesses.

What should I bring?

MACoM provides preparation supplies, towels, robes, and instructions. If you wear contact lenses, consider bringing glasses. Your clergy will tell you if anything additional is needed.

Will a mikvah guide be present?

A trained guide welcomes you and explains the space. Witnessing arrangements for a conversion may differ from other immersions and should be discussed with your sponsoring clergy in advance.

Can family or friends attend?

Guests may be able to wait in the lobby or gathering room. Please discuss the size and role of your group with your clergy and MACoM before the appointment.

What blessings will I say?

Blessings are available next to the mikvah in Hebrew, English, and transliteration. Blessings and ritual requirements vary. Please review the ritual requirements with your sponsoring clergy before your appointment so you know what to expect during the immersion.

Is MACoM accessible?

MACoM’s preparation and pool areas include features that support visitors with mobility needs. MACoM is committed to welcoming guests with different needs. Contact the team before your visit so the appropriate arrangements can be made.

Conversion of Children

Adult Assistance for Infants or Young Children

Infants and young children will be brought in by an adult. Please consult with your rabbi regarding who will perform this role.

When immersing with your child, please bring a bathing suit or other clothing that you are comfortable wearing in the water.

Diving Reflex in Infants

When an infant immerses in a mikvah, the person immersing the baby is encouraged to activate the diving reflex immediately before immersing. This is done by blowing in the baby’s face, which causes the baby to close his or her eyes and hold his or her breath. Presence of the diving reflex is highly variable. Many one year-olds retain it but it is normally much less pronounced by age two.

Conversions of Older Children

Older children may immerse on their own.

Witnessing the conversion of a child

Please discuss who will witness the conversion of a child with your clergy. An experienced MACoM mikvah guide will always be present at the conversion appointment.

Plan your immersion
